2024 4-star DL Champ Thompson commits to Clemson
Norcross (Ga.) Meadowcreek four-star defensive lineman Champ Thompson announced his commitment to Clemson on Saturday night. He chose the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Florida State and Georgia among others.
Thompson is the No. 238 overall prospect and No. 19 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 36 player in Georgia.
On3 rates Thompson higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 180 overall prospect, No. 14 defensive lineman and No. 25 player in Georgia.
“First I want to thank God for giving me the talent and ability to play this beautiful game of football,” Thompson wrote in a statement published to Twitter. “Next I want to thank my parents for helping me become the young man I am today. I want to thank the Meadowcreek high school football coaching staff especially coach Bryant Harrison, and my former head coach Jason Carrera for believing in me as well as every coach that has had a chance to coach me and have a(n) impact on my life.
“With that being said I want to announce that I have made the decision to commit to Clemson University to further my academic and athletic career.”

More on Thompson’s commitment to Clemson
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound defender is now the fourth member of Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class. Woodstock (Ill.) Marian Central Catholic four-star tight end Christian Bentancur, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day four-star cornerback Tavoy Feagin and Cornelius (N.C.) William Amos Hough kicker Nolan Hauser are the others.
“I love the way that coach (Nick) Eason interacts with his players,” Thompson told On3’s Jeremy Johnson on Oct. 6. “He brings that family environment. He’s a cool person to be around.”
Thompson has an On3 NIL Valuation of $9K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
