Clemson has announced that former star baseball player Reed Rohlman has died at the age of 29.

Rohlman played for the Tigers from 2014-17. He was named an All-American twice.

The Moore, South Carolina native started his college career playing under Jack Leggett for two seasons at Clemson, before playing under Monte Lee the final two years.

Reed Rohlman played in 187 games during his college career, hitting .329, with a .410 on-base percentage. Across three seasons, Rohlman hit 11 home runs, 59 doubles and drove in 135 runs, after redshirting as a freshman.

Rohlman did not play as a freshman in 2014, before becoming a star for the Tigers as a redshirt freshman in 2015. He hit .356 with 13 doubles, three home runs and 58 RBIs that season, becoming only the second freshman in school history to be named an All-American. Rohlman finished third in the ACC in batting average in 2015.

During the 2016 season, Reed Rohlman hit .274 with 21 double, two home runs and 43 RBIs. He helped Clemson win the ACC Championship that season.

Rohlman had another outstanding season in 2017, hitting .361 with 21 doubles, six home runs and 34 RBIs.

Following his redshirt junior season, Reed Rohlman was drafted in the 35th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals. He spent three seasons with the Royals organizaton.

Before coming to Clemson, Rohlman starred at Byrnes High School, earning multiple all-state honors.

The Clemson baseball program is led by head coach Erik Bakich, who came over from Michigan ahead of the 2023 season. Clemson went 44-19 in Year 1 under Bakich, hosting the Clemson Regional but coming up short and failing to advance to a Super Regional.

The Tigers are having another excellent season under Bakich in 2024. Clemson is currently 22-3 (5-2) and ranked in the top 5 nationally.

The Tigers have already earned series wins this season over South Carolina, Duke and Florida State.

Clemson is currently playing a three-game series against Miami. The Tigers dropped Game 1 in Coral Gables on Thursday, surrendering a walk-off home run in the ninth inning.

They will look to bounce back on Friday. First pitch in Coral Gables is set for 7 p.m. The three-game series will wrap up on Saturday, with Game 3 at 1 p.m. Clemson has another away series coming up next weekend as the Tigers will play a three-game series at Notre Dame.
