Clemson announces contract extensions for Brad Brownell, Erik Bakich

Clemson men’s basketball coach Brad Brownell and head baseball coach Erik Bakich have had contract extensions and raises approved by the Clemson BOT following excellent seasons.

Brownell has agreed to a new five-year deal that will pay him a total of $20 million, it was announced on Thursday. The contract runs through April of 2029.

The longtime Tigers head coach had a new deal approved after leading Clemson to the Elite 8 this past season. He will make $3.5 million in Year 1 of the deal and is set to have his salary increase each year through the 2028-29 season.

Brad Brownell is entering his 15th season as the Clemson head coach. He is the program’s winningest coach in school history and has taken the Tigers to the Elite Eight and Sweet 16 since 2018.

As for Clemson head baseball coach Erik Bakich, he has agreed to a six-year contract that will pay him a total of nearly $8,400,500. He is set to make $1.275 million in 2025 and will have his salary increase every year through the 2030 season.

Bakich just wrapped up his second season with the Tigers. Clemson hosted a regional each of the past two years, winning a regional for the first time since 2010 in May. The Tigers came up just short of the College World Series, falling to Florida in a super regional.

In addition to Brad Brownell, Clemson men’s basketball assistants Billy Donlon, Sean Dixon and Dick Bender each also received new contracts after helping the Tigers to the Elite Eight.

Other Clemson head coaches receive new contracts

The Clemson Board of Trustees also approved contracts for several other Tigers head coaches on Thursday.

Women’s golf coach Kelley Hester received a new contract as she heads into her ninth season leading the program. The Tigers reached match play of the NCAA National Tournament and finished fifth in the nation this past season. Clemson was also the runner-up at the ACC Championship. Hester signed a contract that runs through 2029. She will receive $190,000 this coming year, with her salary increasing to $200,000 in 2029.

Head soccer coach Mike Noonan received a new contract and raise after leading the Tigers to a second national title in 2023. Clemson men’s soccer also won the 2021 national title. Noonan received a six-year contract through 2029 that will pay him between $600,000 and $687,500 annually.

Women’s soccer coach Eddie Radwanski received a new contract as he enters his 14th season leading the program. He has taken Clemson to the NCAA Tournament in each of the past 10 seasons, including its first College Cup appearance in 2023
