Some tough news for Clemson as regulation expired in their tight matchup against Florida State as cornerback Nate Wiggins went down and had to be helped off the field.

Wiggins appeared to injure his left leg on a late 4th down play from Florida State. He helped break up a pass deep over the middle of the field that would have setup a game-winning Seminole kick inside the 10-yard line but suffered for it, going down and holding that left leg after the play ended. He was eventually helped off the field but did not put any pressure on that leg on his way off.

Wishing for the best for one of the Tiger defense’s premier playmakers. Nate Wiggins returned in 2023 as a true junior and one of the top secondary players in the entire ACC after he posted 29 tackles and 13 passes defensed during his 2022 campaign. He also picked off one pass last year and returned it 98 yards for a touchdown.

Dabo Swinney says Clemson needed to respond after FSU gained momentum

Just after Clemson coughed up a scoop and score to Florida State to tie the game up at 24-24, ABC got an interview with Tiger head coach Dabo Swinney.

Swinney was unfazed by the setback on his team’s most recent offensive possession, where quarterback Cade Klubnik fumbled the ball when he was blindsided by and FSU defender, who picked up the ball and took it to the house for six. The Clemson coach simply said “We got to go right back, you know.”

He revealed that the Tigers missed a block on the fumble but need to refocus and continue playing good offense as they have for most of the day.

“We just missed a protection, got to cross it over with the ‘back there. Good play by them. Unfortunate we fumbled it, but great play. But hey, we got to go right back. And we’ve been moving the ball the whole game. So let’s respond.”

Per Swinney, these are two terrific teams that won’t stop coming, no matter the score. Right now, it’s tied and both teams are ready to do battle down the stretch.

“This is how you win games like this. They’re not going to lay down and neither are we. So, we got it to the fourth quarter, got a heck of a matchup. We got to find a way to win it.”
