Clemson HC Dabo Swinney visits 2025 top-100 WR Travis Smith
Coaches are back out on the recruiting trail in mid-January, and the staff at Clemson is no exception. Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney was on the road to visit Atlanta Westlake 2025 four-star wide receiver Travis Smith.
Swinney was joined by Clemson wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham on their visit to see Smith. Smith is the nation’s No. 154 overall prospect and No. 20 wide receiver in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3 ranks Smith significantly higher than the other major recruiting services. He is the No. 74 overall prospect and No. 8 wide receiver in the 2025 On300.
Clemson off to hot start in 2025 class
Swinney’s staff has thus far put together the No. 9 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings for the 2025 cycle. Seven prospects have committed to the Tigers, five of which rate as blue-chips.
Those include Lynchburg (Va.) Liberty Christian Academy four-star running back Gideon Davidson, Lake City (S.C.) South Florence four-star defensive lineman Amare Adams, Lawrence (Mass.) Central Catholic four-star quarterback Blake Hebert, Lynchburg (Va.) Liberty Christian Academy four-star interior offensive lineman Easton Ware and Savannah (Ga.) Christian Prep four-star tight end Logan Brooking.

Georgia currently trending for Smith
On Tuesday, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons logged an expert prediction for Georgia to land Smith after his visit over the weekend to Athens.
“Bryan McClendon spent a lot of time with Smith over the weekend,” Simmons wrote. “The two have a strong relationship. That connection, the location, Georgia’s consistency and the buzz coming out of the weekend has the Bulldogs trending for one of the best in the Peach State.
… I have logged a pick for Georgia on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Tennessee is the biggest competition for Georgia and the No. 153 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings will be back in Knoxville this weekend. Smith is not expected to make a decision too soon, but he is looking to commit before his senior season.”
