Clemson injury updates: Dabo Swinney updates health of Bryant Wesco, others
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on the injury true freshman receiver Bryant Wesco following Saturday’s win against Wake Forest. Wesco did not travel with the team to Winstom-Salem due to an injured ankle.
Swinney explained that Wesco suffered the injury in Week 6 against Florida State. Although he would go on to play the remainder of that contest, he started feeling the effects in the days after.
“It was in the game last week,” Swinney said. “He rolled it. I think it was on that two-minute drive where he tried to run to the sideline instead of just getting up the field. He played the whole game. He finished, but he was pretty sore the next day.”
Wesco is a four-star prospect who ranked as the No. 61 overall player and No. 13 receiver in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He recorded 11 catches for 262 yards and two touchdowns through the first five games of this season.
Clemson will hope to get Wesco back soon, but he wasn’t the only one who missed Saturday’s game. Offensive lineman Collin Sadler was out with a calf injury, and Swinney provided hope about his status for next week.
“Collin is day-to-day,” the coach said. “He made it last week and had a little setback, but we’re hoping he’ll be much better by Monday.”

The absence of Sadler has led to opportunities for younger players such as Harris Sewell, who saw significant action against the Demon Deacons.
“He played center and guard,” Swinney said. “We had three guys get snaps today. Trent (Howard) actually finished the game snapping. We actually put Trent at right tackle for a little bit of a drive.
“We were trying to hold Mason Wade today because we’re managing a few of these guys’ games. Just trying to postpone having to make a decision on a few guys as long as we can. But Harris did a heck of a job.”
Clemson will hope to get Sadler back this week as it prepares to take on Virginia at noon ET on Saturday.
