Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland tight end Reid Mikeska had his heart set on Clemson. He couldn’t make the trip to the Clemson spring game last week as expected, but now, he’s a Clemson commit.

Mikeska will have plenty of time to explore Clemson’s campus and more. The Tigers’ offered a few things that Mikeska couldn’t pass on.

“The culture, the coaches and the amount of love that they’ve shown me and my family as well as the type of team they are, it just made it kind of a no-brainer,” Mikeska said.

Mikeska was on Clemson’s campus on March 5. It was the first time he had the chance to meet the Tigers’ coaching staff. The entire staff made a lasting impression, one that has carried the Tigers to landing their third commitment in the class of 2023.

“Coach (Dabo) Swinney is amazing,” Mikeska said. “What you see on T.V. He’s the same way in person. I’ve developed a good relationship with coach (Kyle) Richardson and Tahj Boyd, they’ve all been recruiting me really hard. I’ve been their number one guy.”

What does it mean to be a Clemson guy?

Clemson has gained a reputation for being selective in where they send their offers. Mikeska has embraced what it means to have an offer from the Tigers.

For Mikeska, getting an offer from Clemson means more than being really good at football. He knows that means you have to be good at football and then some.

“It’s an honor to get that offer because they’re so selective,” Mikeska said. “You have to be a superb athlete, person and student to go to Clemson. It’s an honor.”

Clemson recruiting momentum intriguing to Reid Mikeska

Mikeska is the third commit in the class of 2023 for Clemson. The Tigers have landed two commits in the last two days. On Tuesday, the Tigers landed four-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina.

Mikeska has been set on Clemson for quite some time. He was before Vizzina committed or had knowledge that he would.

Adding Vizzina only adds to the potential Mikeska saw for the class the Tigers are just beginning to build on.

“That’s kind of just the icing on the cake,” Mikeska said. “He’s going to be a five-star by the end of it. I feel like me and him are kind of getting the ball rolling for that Clemson class… I think we’re a super talented group and we’re going to work well together. We’re continuing the success that Clemson has had.”
