Brandon Streeter gives update on offensive line battle
Clemson offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter spoke to the media eariler this week about his offenive line group. As we get closer to the conclusion of fall camps across the country, Streeter was asked if his best starting five offensive lineman were settled on and chosen to start yet.
“Well I mean we’re never always settled until the very very last week maybe but yeah we feel pretty good about some of our guys that have been repping with the ones and also some of those guys with the twos as well. Feel really good about mentally where they are, like I told you guys before, it’s so important those offensive linemen know a couple positions,” Streeter said.
Clemson’s emphasis on their o-line being a verastile group may stem from their injury troubles up front last season. The Tigers were decimated up front last year and started six different combinations of their starting five lineman, but Streeter mentioned names like Walker Parks and Marcus Tate as solid players that can provide positional versatily up front this season for Clemson.

“Like Walker Parks is going to know tackle and guard, I mean he has to know both sides. Marcus has got to know both guard and tackle, we’ve just got to be prepared for anything and everything. And I feel great where Blake [Miller] is learning that tackle position and Walker bumping inside for some of the guard stuff and so we’re still rotating those guys and continuing to evaluate, but man I feel really really good about where those guys are,” Streeter said.

Streeter was also asked about freshman Blake Miller, who’s been having an outstanding first camp. Streeter was asked if the Tigers played today would he start, as he compared him to one of Clemson’s best offensive lineman in school history.
“If we had to play right now yeah. He’s got a really good big picture for a freshman, I mean it’s very very much like a Mitch Hyatt type deal where came in and just really understands the game, which is hard to do at offensive line when there’s so many moving parts. It’s hard to do that at a young age, a lot of times it takes a little bit longer for those guys. And he brings a toughness every single day, I mean there is no question at all that he’s one of the toughest guys we got. He’s really strong too, so all those things combined to doing some good stuff,” Streeter said.
Offensive line was clearly a struggle for Clemson last year, but it seems like this off season the Tigers have been putting a ton of emphasis on improving that unit. They bring back a more experienced and talented group that’s also versatile in case of injury. The Tigers are hoping their o-line can stay healthy this season and be the anchor of their offense this year as they attempt to reassert themsevles as the top team in ACC.
