Clemson was without the services of its starting quarterback, D.J. Uiagalelei for a portion of the first half against Louisville. He returned to the game, but he reportedly has a PCL sprain.

Uiagalelei limped off the field with a non-contact injury and was in the injury tent for several minutes. He left the tent with a brace on his knee and was jogging down the sideline before taking the field again.

Taisun Phommachanh replaced him under center and led the Tigers to a field goal. He did not complete a pass, but he did have a 26-yard run on the drive.

Uiagalelei was 4-for-7 for 69 yards and a touchdown prior to exiting. He also had five rushes for 12 yards. His total first half numbers were 10-for-16 for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham is continuing his dual-threat ways; he has 67 passing yards and 56 rushing yards with a rushing touchdown.

The game is tied 17-17 at halftime, a higher scoring affair than was expected given Clemson’s strong defense and struggling offense. Clemson gets the football to start the second half.

Louisville has never beaten Clemson dating back to 2014. If Clemson wins tonight, they will be bowl eligible at 6-3.

Tigers have been dismal on the road

Clemson is 1-3 and has not scored more than 20 points away from Tiger Stadium. It appears it will take at least 20 points to win tonight’s game.

“We’ve gotta play our best road game, that’s for sure,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said earlier this week. “Something we haven’t done this year. Hopefully that’s something we can get changed in the month of November.”

Entering Saturday, Uiagalelei was completing just 52.5% of his passes and averaging 149.5 passing yards per game on the road. He had thrown only three touchdown passes, and he had zero scoring throws in two of the four games away from Clemson.
