Future Tigers set to begin seasons, play in primetime
We are just 10 days away from Clemson and Georgia meeting at Bank of America Stadium for what could be one of the best college football games of the season.
However, some other college football action is ready to ramp up this weekend. Week Zero begins on Saturday when Nebraska travels to Illinois for the first college football games of the season. At the high school level, the action has already started.
A few future Tigers played their first game last week, while more will get the action started this weekend. ClemsonSports.com has all the information you need to follow the class of 2022 commitments.
Cade Klubnik, Westlake begin title defense
Austin (Texas) Westlake High currently sits at No. 4 overall in the Max Preps high school top 25 and is fresh off a 14-0 season where the Chaparrals took home their third state championship in 6A/D1. After Cade Klubnik threw for 3,495 yards and 35 touchdowns, they’ll look to start another state championship journey on Friday.
Westlake will open the season against Temple (Texas) High on the road. This season has special meaning for Westlake as legendary head coach Todd Dodge has announced this will be his last run before retirement.
All eyes will be on Klubnik to see if the top-50 quarterback can lead his school to another state championship.

IMG Academy gets national TV window
To open up the season, IMG (Fla.) Academy headed to South Florida to take on Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage and came away with an impressive 35-15 victory over the top-10 opponent. This is important because Clemson has three players on the IMG roster — safety Keon Sabb, EDGE Jihaad Campbell, and cornerback Daylen Everette.
On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons made the trip to cover the game and came away impressed with Campbell and Sabb. The former flashed some big-time upside as a potential star defensive end in Clemson’s four-down front.
On Sunday, No. 2 ranked IMG will travel to Canton, Ohio, to take on Montgomery (Ohio) Bishop Sycamore High. The game will be televised by ESPN at 1:30 p.m.
Tune in to take a look at the future Tigers.
