Clemson slugger Caden Grice blasts pivotal grand slam in ACC Tournament vs. Virginia Tech, sets school record
Clemson slugger Caden Grice has been a massive reason why the Tigers have won 13 straight games in the second half of the season. They’re currently one of the hottest teams in all of college baseball and his power at the plate has been a big reason why. On Wednesday night against Virginia Tech, Grice became the first player in school history to blast three grand slams in a single season. With the Tigers up 6-5 in the top of the sixth inning, Grice connected on a pitch and lifted it deep into the Durham night sky. The grand slam pushed the Clemson lead to 10-5.
He knew it was gone the second the ball connected on his bat. Check out the grand slam below.
The pivotal blast was crucial in lifting the Tigers to a 14-5 victory in their first game of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday night. Clemson now has 40 wins on their 2023 campaign.
Clemson has won 18 of their last 19 games and 23 of their last 26. You’d be hard pressed to find a hotter team in college baseball than the Tigers. Earlier in the game, Clemson head coach Erik Bakich discussed his team’s hot streak.
Erik Bakich discusses his team’s recent hot streak
“You know, I don’t know if I can pinpoint anything. The next game is the most important game and just need to keep playing well. But you know, we were right there. We were so close in a lot of those early games. A lot of one run losses. So, we just had to stick with it. I don’t know if there’s a special moment or any type of thing like that. Our guys did a great job of believing and staying positive. Coaches staying positive. We knew we could turn it around. It’s one thing to say it. It’s another thing to do it,” Bakich said.
