Brandon Streeter on Cade Klubnik: He's going to play in 2022
The Clemson Tigers freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik did not overthrow DJ Uiagalelei as the Tigers’ starting quarterback for the 2022 season. But just because he’s number two on the depth chart does not mean he will not see action this season. Clemson offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter revealed there’s a plan in the works for Klubnik to play this season. But the first thing Streeter addressed was the growth he’s seen from his young signal caller from the spring to the end of fall camp.
“I see a lot more confidence because of the summer. Him going in there and watching more film, watching the clips from the spring. Watching the good things and then the mistakes that he made this spring and correcting those,” said Streeter. “So just absorbing it a lot more allows him to be more confident and knowing where to go with the ball even faster. So I feel really good with where he is.”
Klubnik was a highly touted recruit in the 2022 class as a five-star recruit, according to the On3 Consensus. He played his high school ball at a school in Texas known for producing NFL-caliber quarterbacks, Austin Westlake. Klubnik was the top quarterback prospect in his class.
Streeter: He’s going to play in 2022
Streeter has been impressed with the growth he’s seen from his freshman from the start of spring ball to now. And as far as Klubnik running the offense and the team responding to him, Streeter has no shortage of confidence in that.
“Very confident; very confident, he brings energy. He brings leadership. All the guys respect him because of his work ethic and who he is as a person, and his character. So there’s a ton of confidence with Cade whenever he goes in there, too.

“I mean, Cade’s gonna play; there’s no doubt about it. How much is hard to tell you. We’re still a couple of weeks away, and that’s always based on what we’re doing on offense and how we’re moving the ball.”
And as far as how he plans to use Klubnik and the offense in comparison to Uiagalelei, Streeter is not letting that information go so easily.
“At this point right now it’s just that they’re playing quarterback,” he said. “And we roll in plays based on what their skill set is… So just different types of runs just to make sure that we facilitate and do things at that measure up to what their skill set is.”
Whether his offensive coordinator reveals exactly how he’ll use his young quarterback or not; Klubnik’s going to be on the field this season.
