Clemson receiver E.J. Williams to miss several weeks
Clemson sophomore receiver E.J. Williams is expected to miss several weeks, Tigers coach Dabo Swinney announced Sunday night during his teleconference.
Williams injured his thumb against Georgia and it will require surgery.
He is expected to miss four-to-five weeks, according to Swinney.
The Tigers have a bye week Oct. 9 and Swinney is hopeful Williams will be back around then.
“It’s a pretty simple surgery and it’s probably a four-to-six type week type of thing,” Swinney said. “But he’ll be fine.”
Williams was expected to be a big part of Clemson’s offense this season. He caught 1 pass for 1 yard Saturday night before being injured.
The Alabama native had 24 receptions for 306 yards last season as a true freshman.
