After one year away from the College Football Playoff, most national media outlets now expect Clemson to return there this season.

The latest bowl projections have been released after the Tigers defeated NC State 30-20 this past Saturday night in Death Valley.

The win was Clemson’s second in a row over a top 25 opponent as the Tigers won at Wake Forest the previous weekend.

Clemson is now 5-0 (3-0) heading into Saturday’s game at Boston College.

Here is where the latest bowl projections have Clemson heading for the postseason:

ESPN’s Kyle Bonogura: Chick-Fil-A Beach Bowl vs. Georgia — College Football Playoff semifinal (Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. or 8 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta)

ESPN’s Mark Schlabach: Chick-Fil-A Beach Bowl vs. Alabama — College Football Playoff semifinal (Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. or 8 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta)

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm: Chick-Fil-A Beach Bowl vs. Georgia — College Football Playoff semifinal (Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. or 8 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta)

Brett McMurphy of Action Network: Capital One Orange Bowl vs. Ole Miss — New Year’s Six Bowl (Dec. 30 in Miami)

247Sports’ Brad Crawford: Chick-Fil-A Beach Bowl vs. Alabama — College Football Playoff semifinal (Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. or 8 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta)

College Football News: Fiesta Bowl vs. Ohio State — College Football Playoff semifinal (Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. or 8 p.m. at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona)

NOTE: Clemson has reached the College Football Playoff six of the past seven years.

The Tigers reached the CFP each season from 2015 through 2020, before going 10-3 last year. Clemson also won the ACC each of those six seasons.

During Clemson’s run of six straight CFP berths, the Tigers won two national titles — beating Alabama in both 2016 and 2018.

Clemson is back in position to return to the College Football Playoff this year in large part to the play of quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. The junior has 14 total touchdowns and one interception through five games in 2022.
