Two Clemson football staff members no longer with program

The changes to Clemson’s football staff continued on Wednesday as two more staff members moved on from the football program.

Dabo Swinney announced during his Signing Day press conference that head trainer Danny Poole is moving into another role in the athletics department, while ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that offensive analyst JP Losman is leaving and joining Brent Venables at Oklahoma.

Poole has been at Clemson since 1984 and just completed his 21st season as Clemson’s director of sports medicine.

“Danny has been at Clemson for almost 40 years. I have been with Danny for 19 of those years. He’s been our trainer. I guess he’s been the head trainer here for about 22 years,” Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said. “I’m so thankful and appreciative of him, but he’s made the decision that this is the time to kind of transition. He’s retired from being the full-time trainer. But he still wants to serve Clemson.”

Losman recently completed his fifth year with the Tigers and his first as the program’s senior offensive assistant.

Losman will work in player personnel and football administration at Oklahoma.

Clemson holds off FSU for critical ACC win

Clemson held off Florida State for a much-needed 75-69 win Wednesday night as the Tigers continue to play their best basketball of the season.

Clemson (12-9, 4-6) led by as many as 12 points in the second half and played well down the stretch to hold off FSU’s rally.

Sophomore forward PJ Hall led the way for the Tigers, finishing with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Hall was 5-8 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line, including going 4-for-4 from the stripe in the final two minutes.

Chase Hunter (12), Nick Honor (12) and Naz Bohannon (11) also scored in double figures for the Tigers.

4-star LB TJ Dudley commits to Tigers

Keeping the suspense alive until the latter part of National Signing Day, T.J. Dudley committed to Clemson late Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers beat out Texas and Oregon — the school he was previously committed to — to add Dudley to their 2022 class.

Clemson flexed its muscles in a battle they wanted to win for quite some time. With Jaren Kanak de-committing from the program and signing with Oklahoma, it put the Tigers in a position that required them to circle back to Dudley.

4-star DL Caden Story signs with Clemson

There was a time when Clemson’s staff was unsure if it was going to land a blue-chip defensive lineman in their 2022 class.

It was a real possibility that they wouldn’t, but the Tigers were able to change their fortunes in the eleventh hour of this recruiting cycle.

On Wednesday, four-star prospect Caden Story announced he would be signing with the Tigers. Story chose Clemson over Florida and Auburn, the latter of which was the school he was previously committed to.
