CLEMSON — Dabo Swinney spoke with the media on Thursday and provided the latest injury news on the Tigers ahead of Monday’s opener against Georgia Tech.

Overall the Tigers are in a good spot as only two players on the two-deep — freshman receiver Adam Randall and senior defensive end Xavier Thomas — are expected to miss the game.

“We’re a healthy team. Man, that’s been a blessing for us,” Swinney said. “We’re in a much better spot than we were this time last year, and hopefully that can be a trend for us this year.”

While Randall and Thomas will both miss the opener, they are doing well overall.

Randall is back at practice and should make his Tigers debut in a game soon. Swinney is also pleased with the progress Thomas is making.

“Both are trending in a really good direction,” Swinney said. “Adam is full-speed. In fact, he’s working on the scout team every day this week and next week. Really just taking every rep, because that’s kind of the last little check for him. And Xavier’s doing great.”

Once Randall does return, he is expected to immediately help the Tigers at wideout.

The Myrtle Beach native made several plays against Clemson’s talented defensive backs during spring practice prior to suffering a torn ACL.

Thomas could be a starter for the Tigers this fall once he returns.

Several other Clemson players were banged up during fall camp, but all are now back and ready to play against the Yellow Jackets.

Defensive tackle Tre Williams and receivers Beaux Collins and EJ Williams were a few of the important pieces who missed time.

However, Swinney said they are not in danger of missing the game.

“We’re in a good spot there and guys are ready to get to Atlanta and play,” Swinney said.

Tre Williams is expected to provide depth for the Tigers up front this season, while Swinney views Collins and EJ Williams as co-starters who will be a big part of the offense.
