Clemson DE Myles Murphy puts on show during personal Pro Day
Former Clemson defensive end Myles Murphy wasn’t fully healthy when the Tigers held their Pro Day last month.
Instead of working out then, Murphy waited until Tuesday to go through drills for NFL teams.
The Georgia native put on a show during his personal Pro Day, including running the 40-yard dash at 4.51 seconds.
That number would be tied for sixth at the NFL combine this year as far as defensive ends and tied for 14th all-time at the NFL combine among players at his position group.
“The thing I was trying to get across is I’m the real deal,” Myles Murphy said of his Pro Day. “I think I did what I needed to do to show that. I know who I am and I know what my abilities are. I feel like I did exactly what I needed to do to show those abilities.”
In addition to running an impressive time in the 40, Murphy bench pressed 225 pounds 25 times and had a 31 inch vertical jump.
He did a few other drills as well and feels good about all of his times and numbers.
“Every single drill I did today, the first one just felt like the best one,” Murphy said. “It just felt great. Really just one of those one and done drill things.”
Murphy is projected to go as high as the first round in the 2023 NFL draft after finishing with 45 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks this past season.

The former five-star recruit was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2022 after appearing in 13 games, with 11 starts. He opted out of Clemson’s Orange Bowl matchup against Tennessee to prepare for the draft.
“I’m just enjoying this entire process. I know there are a lot of unknowns of where I’m going to go, when I’m going to go,” Murphy said. “I’m just worrying about what I can control. I can’t control what a GM thinks of me. I can’t control what other teams think of me. All I can do is put my best foot forward.”
Former Clemson teammate KJ Henry also worked out with Murphy during his personal Pro Day on Tuesday.
Henry was also an All-ACC performer this past year after finishing with 59 tackles, including 9 tackles for loss. He started all 14 games.
“The biggest thing was just having my teammate KJ out there competing with me really made things a lot easier,” Murphy said. “It really felt like another practice. … It was great having him out there. Throughout the years, me and him became really close friends. It just felt very comfortable.”
