Four-star OL Zechariah Owens officially signs with Clemson
Clemson has officially added a key piece to its offensive line as Zechariah Owens has signed with the Tigers.
Owens made his decision with Clemson official on Wednesday after a recruitment that had a few twists and turns along the way.
He originally committed to Clemson in July, before decommitting in October.
However, it took Zechariah Owens just five days to rejoin Clemson’s class.
“After a long time of thinking, praying and reconsidering, my family and I have decided that I will stay and continue to be committed to Clemson University,” Owens posted on Twitter in October. “I want to thank the Clemson coaching staff and my fellow teammates for sticking beside me through this. … I’m 1,000% All In.”
Owens is ranked as the No. 19 offensive tackle and No. 237 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus rankings.
He wore No. 75 at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy where he was a starting offensive lineman for three years. Owens played his senior season under coach Tanner Rogers after three years under the guidance of Jonathan Gess. He helped his team to a 7-5 record in 2022.
What Clemson is getting in Zechariah Owens
Zechariah Owens passes the eye test. Getting off the bus, he sticks out at 6-foot-6, 385-pounds. That size helps him live up to his nickname: Flapjack.

Owens prides himself on flattening defenders like ‘flapjacks.’ The four-star offensive lineman’s highlight tape is littered with him mowing down high school defenders.
Owens has powerful hands. If he gets them on a defender, he’s very rarely thrown off. He overwhelms with his power and has some nastiness to him when it comes to finishing.
Owens is listed as a tackle and his height could keep him there. He also is physically powerful enough to make him a potential impact player inside or outside.
He could take some time before turning into what he will be physically at the next level. Owens’ frame has a ton of room for improvement. His size is a plus, and it will be worth watching what happens once he steps into a college weight and nutrition program.
