Clemson Tigers land commitment from 2022 DB Myles Oliver

After going over a month without adding a player to their 2022 class, Clemson has landed two prospects in one day.
On Sunday, Dabo Swinney’s staff first received a commitment from Cole Turner. Just over an hour later, Douglasville (Georgia) defensive back Myles Oliver announced he was teaming up with the Tigers as well.
For Oliver, Clemson was not even an option for him 48 hours ago. After receiving an offer on Saturday, however, he could not pass up the opportunity to play for the program.
“It feels great,” Oliver said. “[Why they came out on top] was the coaches, the campus, all that type of stuff. I just really liked Clemson from when I was a little kid. When they offered me, I had to come there.”
Oliver goes in-depth on official visit to Clemson
While he did not have an offer in hand until Saturday, Oliver was allowed to officially visit Clemson this weekend. The 6-foot, 170-pounder first scheduled his official to the school on Christmas, indicating that an offer could be on the way.
The combination of the Tigers’ coaching staff and everything he saw on campus stood out to Oliver.
“It was great talking with the coaches,” Oliver said. “Getting to know them. Getting to look around the campus. The dorms are really nice. The campus is really nice. I really liked it.”
Of course, chopping it up with the coaches is only part of the official visit experience. This past weekend, Oliver was hosted by Jalyn Philips, who is from Lawrenceville (Georgia).
He also got to spend an ample amount of time with some of his other future teammates during his official.

“I was hosted by J.P., the safety,” Oliver said. “They were all cool. They said Clemson was a really good school with really good coaches. We just had fun.”
The standout moment for Oliver on his visit was donning the orange jerseys for his photoshoot.
“The highlight was getting to tour the locker room and putting the equipment on,” Oliver said.
Relationship with Mike Reed, expectations for 2022 class
Contact between Mike Reed and Oliver was initiated sometime in the middle of December. Since then, Reed was in touch with Oliver nearly every day and scheduled his official visit on Christmas.

Oliver shared his thoughts on Clemson’s cornerbacks coach and what’s appealing about his coaching style.
“He’s a real cool, fun person,” Oliver said. “I can tell he’s a great coach. I like how he grades all his players and makes sure they’re doing their stuff right.”
Reed has an extensive history of producing players that play in the NFL after finishing their careers with the Tigers. His resume includes coaching A.J. Terrell, Bashaud Breeland, Mackensie Alexander and Jayron Kearse.
Oliver, who was recently named as a first-team member of Georgia’s Class 6A All-State team, is looking forward to learning under Reed’s tutelage.
“His history with cornerbacks… he’s put a lot of cornerbacks into the NFL,” Oliver said. “So, with my skill set, I’m hoping he does the same with me. [I bring] a lot of speed, athleticism, ball skills and technique.”
Clemson’s 2022 class now features 14 members, with Oliver being the first Peach State recruit to join the fold. Oliver had the following to say when asked what this group could accomplish together at the next level.
“I feel like we’re going to be great,” Oliver said. “We’re going to do really good and be one of the top in the nation.”
