How to watch, what to watch for as Clemson hosts Wake Forest
Clemson has dropped six straight games since losing senior forward Hunter Tyson to a broken clavicle in early February, but despite what the record says, the Tigers have actually played well at times during this rough stretch.
Three of Clemson’s six losses have been by 5 points or less, including two that were decided on the final shot of the game.
“Our guys are competing hard. We’re playing some decent basketball at times. We just haven’t been quite good enough to win,” Tigers coach Brad Brownell said this week. “Our margin for error is small right now. Obviously without Hunter and PJ [Hall] it gets even smaller. But I think our guys are trying to give good effort and play the right way. We’ve just gotta play a little bit better. We’ve gotta make a few more shots, too. We’ve had some shots we’ve gotta make.”
Clemson will certainly need to play well and knock down shots Wednesday night as Wake Forest comes to town.
The Demon Deacons have been one of the pleasant surprises in the ACC and enter Wednesday’s game 21-7 (11-6).

Wake is led by Alondes Williams, who is one of the favorites to be the ACC Player of the Year. But the Demon Deacons have a nice supporting cast, as well.
Clemson enters the game as only a 3-point underdog, so the Tigers certainly have a chance to win. But a lot will ride on the status of star forward PJ Hall, who has been battling a foot injury and is a game-time decision for Wednesday’s game.
