Clemson web gem seals series sweep, brings win streak to 12 entering postseason
The Clemson Tigers‘ baseball team is one of the hottest programs in all of college baseball. The Tigers won their 12th straight on Saturday afternoon, after Cam Cannarella made a beautiful diving grab to finish off UNC. Check out the beautiful catch below.
It shouldn’t surprise you that Cannarella only has one error all season long. He boasts a fielding percentage of .993 on the season.
With the win, Clemson swept North Carolina in the series 3-0. It’s their 12th straight victory and you’d be hard pressed to find a hotter team in college baseball with the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament coming up.
The Tigers won their 11th straight game on Friday night against the ‘Heels. Blake Wright delivered the heroics in the bottom of the ninth inning, slapping a deep shot into right field.
His hit brought home Clemson first baseman Caden Grice to lift the Tigers to a thrilling 5-4 victory in walk-off fashion. Following that win, pandemonium ensued in the outfield as the Tigers jumped around and doused each other with water.

The top of the ninth was a disaster for the Tigers in the field on Friday night. They lost three pop ups in the lights and North Carolina tied the game at 4-4. That’s when Blake Wright took matters into his own hands in the bottom of the ninth.
Not only did Clemson win their 11th straight on Friday night, but they also locked up a Regional in the upcoming postseason at Clemson. That’s massive. Things simply can’t get much better at this point. Clemson won Game 1 of the series against North Carolina 14-7.
One of Clemson’s biggest wins of the regular season came against the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, March 18. The Tigers prevailed in that one, 14-9. They scored 13 runs in the first four innings. Clemson was swept by No. 1 Wake Forest, 3-0 this year. That’s why the Demon Deacons are the top-ranked team in America. The Tigers’ 12 game winning streak began on Saturday, April 29th, when they pulled off a 6-3 victory over Boston College.
It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how the Tigers perform in the upcoming ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. Clemson will be the No. 3 seed in the 2023 ACC Tournament. UNC was led by slugger Vance Honeycutt, who belted two home runs in the championship game.
