Dabo Swinney provided an unfortunate update of two Clemson stars on Wednesday. According to Swinney, the Tigers will be without running backs Will Shipley and Kobe Pace for spring practice.

First, Swinney stated that while Shipley looks great, the star running back is still rehabbing an injury.

“Will Shipley looks great,” Swinney said. “There’s nobody more disappointed than Will Shipley that he couldn’t do mat drills. That guy loves every ounce of everything, but he’s in a good spot with his rehab.”

Additionally, Swinney added that Pace is coming along well from the surgery he had on his big toe.

“Kobe Pace with his big toe, the surgery that he had on that, he’s rehabbing well,” Swinney said.

Dabo Swinney is disappointed that two of his offensive stars won’t be on the field at spring practice, but the way they’re coming along is enough to boost morale. As Clemson looks to regain their usual form, both athletes will be huge pieces of their success.

More on Will Shipley, Kobe Pace

Will Shipley was phenomenal for Clemson in 2021. While the Tigers struggled on offense for most of the season, the star running back was a bright spot for the program.

To illustrate, Shipley ran for 739 yards and 11 touchdowns. Additionally, he caught 16 passes for 116 yards on the season. While he’ll be out of spring practices, the Clemson star will be looking to improve upon his gaudy numbers.

On the other hand, Kobe Pace still was able to carve out a role amidst Shipley’s production. On the season, Pace rushed for 641 yards and six touchdowns. Additionally, the running back caught 12 passes for 131 yards. He’ll also be looking to improve upon his statistics.

As you can see, Clemson has a two-headed monster in the backfield. Next season, Dabo Swinney could return his team to prominence with two stars in the backfield for the Tigers.
