Dabo Swinney chews out Cole Turner for unsportsmanlike conduct penalty following Clemson TD
Clemson finally got on the scoreboard in the second half, thanks to a beautifully tossed pass from Cade Klubnik to receiver Cole Turner. After the touchdown, Turner got tangled up with the Virginia Tech defender Dorian Strong, and he shared a few words with him. Officials quickly tossed an unsportsmanlike conduct flag on Turner. And that didn’t please Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, who let his receiver know about it once he returned to the Tigers sideline.
Here’s the brief clip of Swinney scolding Turner for getting the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
The Clemson offensive attack finally started to get things rolling in the second half, as the Tigers currently lead 21-7 after Jake Briningstool bullied his way into the end zone for a 12-yard touchdown. Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones was benched for backup Collin Schlee in the fourth quarter. ESPN cameras showed Drones without his helmet on the VT sideline, which means he’s likely done for the day.
Drones was seen with a brace on his right knee in the second half. He was playing banged up on Saturday, but couldn’t get much going for the Hokies offense. Clemson defensive back Ashton Hampton hauled in what will likely be remembered as the interception of the season on Saturday, after he hauled in a miraculous one-handed pick down the right sideline.
