After a tough start to the season for Clemson and a heated exchange with the notorious Tyler from Spartanburg this week, Dabo Swinney was absolutely fired up after the Tigers’ home win over Notre Dame.

He certainly had a message for the haters and the folks who tried to bury this Clemson team, telling them that they better buy up all the Tiger stock they can get after Saturday’s huge victory.

Here was an electric Dabo Swinney just after the game as Clemson fans met him at the paw.

“We ain’t had much go our way this year, but the one thing that has shown up every week is the heart and the fight of Clemson. And I know we’re down and everybody’s throwing dirt on us, but if Clemson’s a stock, you better buy all you freaking can buy right now. Let’s go!”

You can also watch his postgame statement right here:

As part of that postgame interview, Swinney also credited his defense for stringing together important stops all day, especially in the second half, and obviously in the final stand after the Tigers had fumbled the ball back to Notre Dame late in the fourth quarter.

“Well, it’s awesome. They were awesome all day. I think they had like four or five punts in a row. It was a great finish. It’s kind of been that type of year, and with this today, we made one more play. I’m just really proud of the fight from the guys and really happy for our players.”

He was then asked about the offensive line, which was missing several starters. Swinney specifically noted that freshman Harris Sewell and junior Trent Howard stepped in and came up huge for a Tiger OL unit that desperately needed some next men up to perform well today.

“They battled their asses off today,” he added.

Dabo Swinney breaks all-time Clemson win record

Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney has already accomplished things that no other football coach could ever dream of in Death Valley. He’s brought home two national championships and eight ACC crowns, among many other impressive achievements. On Saturday afternoon against Notre Dame, he finally won one more game, giving him 166 wins for his career, making him the winningest football coach in Clemson program history.

Swinney recently tied Frank Howard’s school record of 165 wins with the Tigers’ Week 6 victory over Wake Forest. On Saturday against Notre Dame, he finally broke that record in dramatic fashion, shattering the record that stood for almost 54 years.

Before Saturday, Swinney was tied with Frank Howard, Bobby Dodd (Georgia Tech), and Fielding Yost of Michigan at No. 49 on the list of all-time winningest college football coaches at major programs, according to College Football Reference. Only three active head coaches are currently ahead of Swinney–Alabama’s Nick Saban (No. 5 with 286 wins), UNC’s Mack Brown (No. 7 with 274) and Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz (no. 20 with 192).
