The Atlantic Coast Conference has spread to the Pacific Coast after adding former Pac-12 schools Cal and Stanford. This year, the Clemson Tigers will face off against one of the California institutions. While much has been made about the travel from one coast to another, Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney doesn’t seem too concerned about it.

Recently, when addressing the media, the Clemson headman shared his thoughts about playing at Cal and Stanford in the future. According to Swinney, he’s not worried about it. And in fact, he has not looked past Week 1.

“I mean, listen; I don’t even pay attention much anymore,” said Swinney. “I just know we’re playing Georgia [on] August 31. I mean, it’s just waiting till next week, and something else will change. There’s been so much change in college football.

“Like I said, you just focus on what impacts you, what you what you got to do each day. So, as I’ve said many times, I think three or four years from now it’s probably a different conversation, but that’s where we are today.”

Clemson will open up their 2024 season with a monumental matchup against the SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs. The game is considered a neutral site matchup between two of the top programs in college football in recent history. However, it will take place in Georgia at the home of the Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Swinney and the Tigers don’t have to worry about making the cross-country trip this season. Clemson will face off against Stanford in late September. But that game will be Clemson’s homecoming game and will be held at their home in Memorial Stadium. So, all the hoopla about the travel isn’t relevant to Swinney. But what it is relevant is returning Clemson to the forefront of the national championship picture in 2024. And that return to form would start with a Week 1 win over Georgia in Atlanta on August 31.
