Clemson star receiver Antonio Williams has had his 2023 season spoiled by injuries, but there remains a chance that he could return to play this season still.

Coach Dabo Swinney addressed that possibility following his team’s win over North Carolina on Saturday.

“I don’t (know), possibly. We’ll see where he is,” Swinney said. “Probably not likely (this week), but we do feel good about the bowl game. But we’ll see. We’ll see where he’s at Monday.”

Williams played in three games this season before he suffered an ankle injury that would sideline him for a few weeks. He had gotten off to a solid start to the season, too.

Following the ankle injury, Williams made a brief return against Miami. However, he suffered a toe injury in that game, on Oct. 21, and has not played since.

Clemson has its regular season finale on Saturday, a road trip to South Carolina. As Swinney noted, the Tigers probably won’t have Williams for that one, but they could for a bowl game in the month of December.

As a freshman in 2022, Antonio Williams recorded 56 catches for 604 yards and four touchdowns. He had 17 catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns before the toe injury this season.

Clemson vibing after late-season turnaround

After starting the season at just 4-4, Clemson has had a really nice turnaround of late, winning three straight, including two over ranked opponents.

The Tigers have been feeling themselves amid the winning after the rough start to the year.

“Obviously feel great after back-to-back wins. But just super proud of these guys,” quarterback Cade Klubnik said before the North Carolina win. “We haven’t lost faith one time, and just continued to come to work every single day. Just super proud of this team.

“It’s been a wild year, so just proud of continuing to fight every single week. … I think it’s always fun to talk about positive things, especially after a win. It’s good.”

After more winning on Saturday, Clemson will be looking to cap things with a win over their rival in their house on Saturday.

Clemson and South Carolina are set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday, with a broadcast set for the SEC Network.
