Mark Stoops Previews Showdown With Clemson

Dabo Swinney had the same reaction many in the sport of college football did when he found out Florida State was suing the ACC.

The Seminoles shook up the sport when it was revealed they’re challenging the ACC’s Grant of Rights, but Swinney’s simply a bystander. The Clemson Tigers leader explained that his reaction was the same the rest of the outside world had, one of shock and awe.

“What was my reaction? What was my reaction (smiling)? I don’t think I really had a reaction,” Swinney said. “It wasn’t like a, Wow. I didn’t really have a reaction other than just, Okay, all right, let’s see what happens.

“I don’t know. Just like everybody else. Read the article, one of the articles, and just informed myself. I didn’t really have a reaction. Went to practice (smiling).”

Simple as that for Swinney. He’s no legal expert. It was all about trying to inform himself, and moving on until the next bit of news drops. That’s how the Clemson coach is rolling on the situation.

Of course, the result of the lawsuit could affect Clemson in a direct manner in the future, but there’s some time until we get to that point. For now, Dabo Swinney and the Tigers are only focused on ending 2023 with a win in the Gator Bowl against Kentucky.

Dabo Swinney shares what he wants to see from Cade Klubnik vs. Kentucky

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik has had an up-and-down 2023 season to this point. The sophomore will try to end the year on a high note in the Gator Bowl against Kentucky on Friday.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney recently joined the Gramlich and Mac Lain Podcast and discussed what he wants to see from his starting QB against the Wildcats.

“Stay on the path he’s on, you know,” Swinney said. “I mean the reason we’ve won four in a row is we’ve done a better job of taking care of the ball. We’ve won the margin four games in a row. The four we lost, we didn’t. So he’s been better.”

The Clemson defense has been lights out for most of the season, meaning that Cade Klubnik hasn’t had to put up huge stats in order for the Tigers to win.

During Clemson’s four-game winning streak, Klubnik threw for an average of 158 yards per game and tossed more than one touchdown pass only once.

Still, Clemson went 4-0 thanks to better ball security than it had early in the season and a stout defense.

Cade Klubnik will be making his second start in a bowl game when Clemson faces Kentucky. He started against another SEC team last year against Tennessee in the Orange Bowl when the Tigers came up short.
