5-star CB Daylen Everette decommits from Clemson
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star cornerback Daylen Everette tells On3 he has decommitted from the Clemson Tigers. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Everette had been committed to Clemson since July.
Everette sent On3 a statement on his decommitment:
I want to thank the whole Clemson staff for everything they’ve done for my family and I. I am very grateful for Coach Swinney, Coach Reed and the rest of the Clemson staff for believing in my talents and providing me with an opportunity to play football at the next level. After a long talk with my family, I have decided that it is in my best interest to decommit from Clemson University. So as of now, I will be opening my recruitment back up. I wish nothing but the best for Clemson University.
Schools that Everette is looking at next include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Miami. Everette is still looking to sign next week during the Early Signing Period.
Daylen Everette Scouting Summary
On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote the following on Daylen Everette as a prospect:
Polished corner who combines high-end athleticism and length. Registers as one of the best athletes among top cornerback prospects in the 2022 cycle. Tested as the fastest player on IMG Academy’s roster prior to the 2021 season, running a 4.44-second electronically-timed 40-yard dash. Pairs that athleticism with size at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds and advanced length for the position with 33-inch arms. Uses his speed to stay in-phase while defending downfield routes. Opens up his hips to turn and run and shows the ability to turn and track the ball. Not tested often while playing on a strong IMG defense, but had considerable ball production prior to his transfer with 11 interceptions as a sophomore.
The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four recruiting services, currently ranks Everette as the nation’s No. 25 overall prospect and the No. 5 cornerback in the 2022 class.
