Clemson QB commit Cade Klubnik suffers apparent shoulder injury
The 2021 season has been a forgettable one for Clemson. And the Tigers’ luck took another hit with five-star quarterback commit Cade Klubnik suffering an apparent shoulder injury.
Klubnik, the country’s No. 20 overall prospect according to the industry-generated On3 Consensus, reportedly landed oddly near the goal line during Austin Westlake’s game Friday night. He finished the drive, but headed immediately to the injury tent before being taken out of the stadium on a golf cart.
The No. 2 overall quarterback in the 2022 class, Klubnik had already thrown a 93-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. He also ran for a score to put the Chaps up 21-0 on Arlington Bowie.
He finished as one of the top performers at this summer’s Elite 11 camp and elevated himself into the conversation as one of the best prospects in the 2022 class, regardless of position.

Cade Klubnik is second five-star prospect to be injured
He is the second five-star recruit in as many weeks to suffer a significant injury and leave the game. Five-star athlete Travis Hunter left Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill’s game last week in an ambulance after a leg injury. He suffered only a high ankle sprain. But it’s possible he could miss the rest of the high school season as he prepares to head to Florida State.
Elite 2022 wide receiver Evan Stewart opted out of the rest of his team’s high school season earlier this week to avoid potential injury and prepare to enroll in January at whatever school he commits to.
