Four-Star EDGE Darien Mayo commits to Clemson
Four-star EDGE Darien Mayo of Olney (MD) Good Counsel announced his commitment to Clemson Thursday evening.
The 6-foot-7, 255 pounder chose the Tigers over Ohio State, USC, and Michigan.
Mayo on why he chose Clemson
“When I went down there it was all love. The coaching staff, players, staff members and everyone on campus showed love to me and my family. The football side of it was great. I fit well in their system and if I handle business when I get on campus I have a chance to play early.”
Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for him
“Coach Dabo, coach Eason, and coach Ski were big on my decision to come to Clemson. They always showed love to me and kept it real with me. They plan on using me as an end that can play both sides.”
Clemson culture
“The culture is great down there. It aligns with everything me and my family believe in and that played a factor in my decision.”
The Maryland EDGE joins coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers’ top 12 class in the 2024 team rankings. He joins five-star wide receiver Bryant Wesco, five-star linebacker Sammy Brown, and others.
