Illinois State Redbirds power forward Myles Foster has committed to transfer to the Clemson Tigers, per Tobias Bass.

Myles Foster spent one season with the Redbirds after having transferred into the program from Monmouth, where he had spent the previous three seasons. That included the season impacted by COVID-19, giving him another season of eligibility.

During the 2023-24 season with Illinois State Myles Foster played in 32 games and started 31 of those appearances. In that campaign, he averaged 12.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. All of those were higher than his career averages. He also shot 52.5 percent from the field and 63.4 percent from the free throw line.

Despite the excellent play that Illinois State got from Myles Foster, it was a frustrating season for the Redbirds, who went 15-17 overall and just 9-11 in Missouri Valley Conference play. They lost in the opening round of the MVC Tournament.

Myles Foster played high school basketball at Brooks School in Brooklyn, New York, where he was an unranked recruit in the 2020 cycle.

Now, Myles Foster is set to take a step up in competition, joining the Clemson Tigers in the ACC. This comes as the Tigers are looking to reload after a phenomenal 2023-24 season. Clemson went 24-12 overall and 11-9 during ACC play. That was good enough to make it to the NCAA Tournament where Clemson went on a deep run, making it as far as the Elite Eight.

To keep up with the latest players on the move, check out On3’s Transfer Portal wire.

Clemson and the Transfer Portal

The Transfer Portal opened for college basketball the day after Selection Sunday. It has since closed for players to enter the portal, though players are still able to make their decision on where to transfer to outside of that window.

The Clemson Tigers are currently ranked 26th in the On3 College Basketball Team Transfer Portal Rankings. That’s a class for the Tigers that currently has had four players transfer out and another four join the program through the portal. Myles Foster is included in those three players who have joined Clemson through the portal.

Myles Foster is the first player transferring into Clemson from a non-power conference school. He’s also one of three big men to join the program, as a power forward joining a pair of centers and a point guard coming into the program.

From here, it will be interesting to see how head coach Brad Brownell continues to fill out the roster for Clemson.
