CLEMSON — One of the top running backs in the country has narrowed his decision down to six schools and Clemson has made the cut.

Four-star running back Jeremiah Cobb announced a top six of Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU and Texas on Monday.

Cobb is currently the top running back option on Clemson’s board. He received an offer from the Tigers earlier this month.

The Montgomery Catholic Preparatory product is ranked as the No. 6 running back in the nation and the No. 158 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus rankings.

Cobb is planning to visit Clemson June 3-5 when the Tigers are scheduled to have a huge recruiting weekend.

Two of Cobb’s former teammates signed with Clemson as a part of the class of 2022 in safety Kylon Griffin and linebacker T.J. Dudley.

Clemson running back breakdown for 2022

Clemson returns its top three running backs from last season in Will Shipley, Kobe Pace and Phil Mafah.

Shipley and Pace split time as the No. 1 back last season, although both players missed most of the spring, leaving Mafah to carry the load.

Shipley, Pace and Mafah should create a dynamic 1-2-3 punch that can be as good as any in college football.

“We want the three-headed monster,” Tigers running backs coach CJ Spiller said this spring. “Those three guys, man, you can put them on any team in America and they can go start.”

Clemson also added a running back in the class of 2022 — Keith Adams Jr.

Adams rushed for 1,376 yards and 22 touchdowns as a senior at Pine View High in Utah.

Adams started his high school career at Cherokee High in Canton, Georgia. He is the son of Clemson Hall of Famer Keith Adams.

It is unlikely that Adams is a key part of the rotation this fall, but he should add depth as the No. 4 guy.
