Jordan McFadden cemented himself as one of the key pieces of the Clemson offensive line last season. Now a fifth-year senior, McFadden is ready to use that experience to be a leader for the Tigers in 2022.

Last year, McFadden was a second team All-ACC selection after leading Clemson with 872 snaps played. In fact, he was was one of four Tigers to start every game as they went 10-3 overall. But that consistency is key as Clemson tries to get back toward the top of the ACC and back to the College Football Playoff.

“I know it was definitely a tough year with injuries and everything like that,” McFadden said. “But being a leader of the offense, being a leader of the offensive line, just trying to be out there for my teammates, I love to play. I love to compete. I love to win. It was really important to me that no matter how I feel, I was out there with the rest of my guys trying to do the best that I can, be as successful as I can be.”

Jordan McFadden explains the culture around Clemson football

McFadden also explained the culture around Clemson football. In particular, how the program blends fun and hard work.

“You know, it’s definitely a ton of fun,” McFadden said. “That’s a huge reason why I came back to Clemson. I would say the biggest thing is just my teammates, the love I have for them. They’re awesome. They work extremely hard, they push themselves, they push me to make me better.”

McFadden added his favorite part of playing at Clemson remains his teammates. Their love of the game and love for each other is what makes Clemson a special place to McFadden.

“It’s just always fun competing with a bunch of guys who love to play the game and who love each other,” McFadden continued. “I would say my teammates are just a great example of our culture here and how they carry themselves off the field, on the field, and just being in the locker room with guys like that makes you want to continue to be at Clemson.”
