Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star safety Keon Sabb decommitted from Clemson on Monday. The news comes a day after former Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables was announced as the head coach at Oklahoma.

“First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the entire coaching staff at Clemson,” Sabb told On3. “I am gratelful for the time and energy you have invested in me.

“Over time we have developed strong relationships, which is why it weights so heavily on my heart that I must make a decision to take a step back from my commitment.

“With the help of family and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to re-open my recruitment. I wish all the best to the Clemson program and their future.”

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Sabb is the first to decommit from Clemson since Venables departure. The Tigers now have 13 commitments in the 2022 class. Prior to Sabb’s decommitment, the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings had Clemson with the No. 7 overall class in the 2022. Clemson now ranks No. 10 in the nation.

Keon Sabb Scouting Summary

Earlier this fall, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons watched Sabb play in person. Simmons wrote the following on Sabb’s performance:

“Sabb is a big safety that can run, cover and hit. Some think he would end up in the box at Clemson as a linebacker, but whatever Brent Venables and the Tigers decide to label him at, Sabb is an athlete. He moved around a good bit on the back-end of the defense Friday night.”

The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average, currently ranks Sabb as the nation’s No. 71 overall prospect, the No. 7 safety, and the No. 11 recruit in Florida.
