Clemson receiver Misun Kelley needs surgery
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney revealed during his press conference on Tuesday that freshman receiver Misun Kelley needs surgery.
Kelley will not immediately undergo surgery, but he does have an issue that needs to get fixed at some point soon.
“He’s got something that he’s kind of dealt with since high school that we’ll have to fix,” Swinney said. “Nothing long-term or anything like that. But it’s something that’s going to have to happen and we’ve got it set up to where – because we want him to be back for offseason, January, spring training and all that stuff. So we’ve got a good plan in place there.”
Misun Kelley has appeared in two games so far this season. He has yet to catch a pass but does have one kickoff return for 14 yards.
He signed with Clemson after attending nearby Daniel High School. Even though Kelley has already played in two games, the plan is for him to redshirt this season.

“He’s got two more games, and we’re going to try to hold him. That’s our plan. He’s actually going to have to have a little surgery, as well, which we know. We know we’ve kind of got a timeline on when we’re probably going to have to do that,” Swinney said. “But he’s got a couple more games. Actually got in there and was moving around pretty good. He’s practicing. He had a really good practice last night, as a matter of fact.”
Kelley hasn’t contributed much on the field so far in his Clemson career, but Dabo Swinney insists the 5-foot-10 receiver has a bright future. Kelley was ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 926 overall player in the country for the class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry rankings.
“He is a very mature kid. He is a baller. The guy is conscientious. He can do so many things. He just hasn’t had the opportunity yet,” Swinney said. “He played in a game. Then he was out, a little injury. And then we’re going to hold him. And then with Antonio [Williams banged up], we said, ‘Alright, let’s go ahead and play him a game here or there. Let’s give us a back-up right there.’ But I’m super excited about Tink. This kid is going to be a good player for us. He’s going to be able to do a lot of things as he goes. But the same thing – he’s got a high level of maturity. And he’s a winner. Kid’s a winner. Really, really like him.”
