Nevada big Nick Davidson commits to Clemson out of NCAA transfer portal

Nevada star Nick Davidson has committed to Clemson via the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Joe Tipton. He spent three years with the Wolfpack before making the move.
Over those three years there was consistent year-over-year improvement. By the time the 2024-25 season rolled around, Davidson was a full-blown star.
He started 67 games for Nevada over the past two seasons. This year, Nick Davidson averaged 15.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
In addition to the scoring and rebounding, Nick Davidson also notched 2.8 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.8 steals per contest. He could stuff the stat sheet on any given night.
Perhaps more impressive, he became more efficient over the course of his three years at Nevada. After shooting 29.2% from 3-point range as a sophomore, he improved that figure to 37.1% as a junior in 2024-25. And he did it on volume, too, attempting 124 shots from beyond the arc.
At 6 foot 10, 238 pounds, Nick Davidson has the length to be a real menace. That is evident in his numbers. But it also showed up with some performances in individual games this year.
Davidson posted four double-doubles during the season, while he scored 20 or more points nine times. He posted back-to-back 225-point outings in early February.

One of his last performances was a Mountain West tournament showing against Fresno State. During that game, Nick Davidson posted a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and two assists.
Prior to enrolling at Nevada, Davidson was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 133 overall recruit in the country in the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2021 class. He was also ranked as the No. 21 center in the class and the No. 12 overall player from the state of California, hailing from Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei.
Davidson is the first player Clemson has landed out of the transfer portal this cycle. But the Tigers have lost more than a few players to the portal.
So far this cycle, forward Chauncey Wiggins, forward Asa Thomas, point guard Del Jones, shooting guard Jake Heidbreder and center Christian Reeves have entered the transfer portal. Coach Brad Brownell will have some roster retooling to do, and adding Nick Davidson is a good start.
