CLEMSON — The power of the paw continues to be strong.

The NIL 100 was released by On3 Friday afternoon, and according to founder Shannon Terry it is “the first of its kind and the de facto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by market valuation.”

Clemson is well-represented on the list as the Tigers have five of the top 80 college football players for 2021.

A couple of Tigers signees are also on the list, led by 2022 quarterback Cade Klubnik, who comes in at No. 4 out of all high school football recruits.

Clemson has made NIL a priority for its student-athletes and is building a student-athlete branding institute, which will help Tigers athletes grow their brand.

“We’re doing everything we can from the school… all we can do is support our guys. We’re building a bunch of resources over here. We’ve got a lot of things in place from a tools standpoint, an education standpoint,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said last month. “We’re trying to equip the guys with the tools they need for life. This is just another part of life. That’s the main things that we can do.”

About the On3 NIL Valuation

The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

The NIL valuation is comprised of a number of dynamic data points that focus on two primary factors – an athlete’s social media presence and their level of athletic performance.

A base valuation is generated from the number of followers on each social media platform an athlete has (Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok). Each platform is weighted differently based on the number of marketing dollars that brands and advertisers typically spend on each.
