Former Clemson baseball coach joining Gamecocks staff
Former Clemson head coach Monte Lee is joining the South Carolina baseball coaching staff, Clemson Sports has confirmed.
Lee is returning to South Carolina after previously spending six years there as an assistant from 2003-08.
Lee spent the past seven seasons as the head coach at Clemson. He was fired following the 2022 season and replaced by Erik Bakich.
This move is on the heels of South Carolina assistant Chad Caillet stepping away from coaching, according Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball.
In addition to Lee, former Clemson players Ricky Williams, Jonathan French and Dylan Brewer will be playing for the Gamecocks this season.

The trio transferred to South Carolina after Lee was fired.
Lee, who was born in Spartanburg, played at College of Charleston, before beginning his coach career.
Lee started his coaching career as an assistant at SMC, before becoming an assistant at South Carolina in 2003.
He was the head coach at College of Charleston from 2009-15 before taking over for Jack Leggett at Clemson.
Lee was 242-136 in seven seasons with the Tigers before being fired after missing the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive season.
