Tampa (Fla.) Gaither linebacker Kobe McCloud has decommitted from FIU, he tells ClemsonSports’ Joseph Hastings.

McCloud is the No. 1176 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 125 linebacker and the No. 153 prospect in the state of Florida.

He is the younger brother of former Clemson player Ray-Ray McCloud, and he picked up an offer from Dabo Swinney and the Tigers on Jan. 9.

McCloud has yet to publicly de-commit from FIU. The three-star linebacker did inform told ClemsonSports, however, that his recruitment is now open.

“No sir, I’m not committed to FIU,” Kobe McCloud wrote in a message.

The 6-foot-1, 208-pounder has only taken an official visit to UMass this month, but he is expected to have the Tigers in for a home visit on Wednesday and will also head to Clemson this weekend for an official visit.

“It was amazing,” McCloud told Clemson Sports of his offer from the Tigers. “It felt like all the work I put in and all the film that I’ve put in, they’ve seen it. I feel like it’s a great opportunity that I’m blessed with. Looking forward to laying down the options and when signing day comes up, I’ll be ready to make my decision.”

Clemson currently has 12 prospects signed and two more committed for the 2022 cycle. However, they have just one linebacker, three-star Wade Woodaz, already in the fold. The Tigers’ class ranks No. 11 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
