Caden Curry announces top 12

Clemson’s officially in the mix for the nation’s No. 8 defensive tackle in the class of 2022.

Caden Curry dropped his list of his top 12 schools on Monday afternoon on Twitter. The Tigers are in the mix along with Ohio State, Alabama, Arizona State, Indiana, Notre Dame, Oregon, Florida State, Michigan, USC and Tennessee. A junior at Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.), he tallied 61 tackles with 21.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks this past fall, helping his team win a state championship.

His national profile rose after his sophomore season when he finished with 100 tackles and 26.5 tackles for loss, plus two fumble recoveries. At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Curry can make an early impact wherever he chooses to go. 247Sports.com ranks him as a top-100 recruit in the class of 2022.

Curry’s only visited Indiana and plans to make visits this June with the dead period ending. Ohio State, Clemson and Alabama are  rumored to be high on his list.

The Tigers currently have just four commitments in their 2022 recruiting class and don’t have a defensive commit. That should change this summer with Dabo Swinney being able to host his annual high school camp in June.

Clemson soccer earns No. 1 overall seed

For the first time since 1998, the Tigers are the top seed in the NCAA men’s soccer tournament. With the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, Clemson receives a first-round bye will play the winner of the Jacksonville and American on May 2 at 8 p.m. in Winston-Salem, N.C.

This year’s tournament will mark Clemson’s 33rd all-time appearance and its seventh in the last eight seasons. In the 2019 tourney, the Tigers earned wins over Charlotte and Providence before playing to a draw and losing in penalty kicks to Stanford in the quarterfinals.

The Tigers enter the NCAAs with a 13-3-2 overall record and earned the ACC’s automatic bid after winning the conference championship with a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh last weekend.

Amari Rodgers on Trevor Lawrence’s recent comments

Trevor Lawrence has been in the spotlight ever since leading Clemson to a national championship as a freshman. Lately, he’s been in the spotlight for comments he recently made in a Sports Illustrated article.

“I don’t have this huge chip on my shoulder that everyone’s out to get me and I’m trying to prove everybody wrong. … I can’t manufacture that. I don’t want to,” Lawrence was quoted in the article.

ClemsonSports.com senior writer Matt Connolly traveled down to Greenville over the weekend to visit former Tigers wide receiver Amari Rodgers’ kids camp. Rodgers also shared his thoughts on all the recent scrutiny aimed at his old quarterback.

“I feel like he’s just going to go and do what he does. He doesn’t have any pressure. So he’s going to go out there and be Trevor and that’s good enough to be successful,” Rodgers said.
