Clemson lands two on top-100 coaches list
Clemson has built one of the top programs in the nation with the help of Dabo Swinney.
But the Tigers were successful before Swinney, too. That’s why former Clemson coach Danny Ford landed on ESPN’s top 100 head coaches of the past 50 years list. Ford and Swinney each made the cut.
Ford spent 12 seasons with the Tigers, piecing together five ACC titles and winning the national championship in 1981. He closed out his career at Clemson with a 96–29–4 overall record and 56–16–1 record in ACC play. He ranked No. 39 overall on the list and helped build the standard at Clemson with the national championship.
The current Clemson coach, Swinney clocked in at No. 7 overall on ESPN’s rankings. He had success early in his career with the Tigers, but his talent of coaching has shown in the last six seasons. In the past six years, Clemson has gone 79-7 and won its second and third national titles. And he’s only 51.
Clemson has two of the top coaches in college football history. And one is currently pacing the sidelines for the Tigers.

The scrimmage was supposed to take place at Memorial Stadium, but weather forced it to be moved indoors. It was a busy day for Tigers coach Dabo Swinney, who spent the first half of the day at Bobby Bowden’s memorial service in Tallahassee before returning to Clemson for the Saturday afternoon scrimmage.

Urban Meyer talks Trevor Lawrence, critical of Jaguars offense
Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer has incredibly high standards for his football teams. He didn’t win three national championships at two different schools in college football without expecting the very best out of his players.
The Jaguars lost 23-13 on Saturday in a preseason game against the Browns. Meyer wanted more production from his offense, but he was impressed by Clemson product and rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
