Clemson quarterback commit suffers apparent shoulder injury

The Tigers have been hit with injury after injury this season. Now it seems their top recruit in the class of 2022 has suffered an injury, too.

Quarterback Cade Klubnik exited his Austin Westlake High School game Friday night with an apparent shoulder injury. Playing against Arlington Bowie, he reportedly suffered the injury when he landed oddly near the goal line. He finished the drive, but headed immediately to the injury tent before being taken out of the stadium on a golf cart.

Prior to the injury, he threw a 93-yard touchdown pass and ran for a score. Klubnik, who is one of the top QB prospects in the country, burst onto the national scene this summer as he captured the Elite 11 Finals MVP title. And he took the unannounced status of No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2022 when Quinn Ewers left high school early to attend Ohio State.

Klubnik has been an integral part of the 2022 cycle for Clemson, helping sell the school when recruits took unofficial visits over the summer. He committed to the Tigers back in March, and he has the talent to be the next great quarterback produced by the school.

The country’s No. 20 overall prospect according to the industry-generated On3 Consensus, Klubnik was recently named to the MaxPreps National Player of the Year Watch List.

Clemson is piquing the interest of 2024 QB Adrian Posse

Adrian Posse is only a sophomore in high school, but has already drawn the attention of college football programs across the country.

The likes of Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas A&M are in the mix for Posse at this juncture. There are also some other colleges keeping close tabs on him, with one of those being Clemson.

While speaking with ClemsonSports.com senior recruiting reporter Joseph Hastings last week, Posse opened up about his summer trip to the school, his thoughts on the Tigers, and if he thinks the team would be a good fit for him.

How Tigers are adjusting to bye week because of injuries

The bye week is typically a time for Clemson to get some competitive work in at practice with its starters in order to be sharp for the second half of the season.

But with all of the injuries the Tigers are currently dealing with, that’s not an option for Dabo Swinney’s squad. The good news for Clemson is that it doesn’t have to play this week. The bad news for the Tigers is that there’s plenty they need to work on as they enter the bye week 3-2, but Swinney and the coaching staff are limited with what they can do during this break.

ClemsonSports.com senior writer Matt Connolly broke down how Swinney and his staff are approaching this week.
