Justyn Ross updates foot injury ahead of NFL Combine

Justyn Ross did not see his Clemson career end the way he envisioned. The Tigers star receiver had 112 catches for 1,865 yards and 17 touchdowns in his first two seasons, but a spinal fusion surgery held him back from playing in 2020.

He returned this past year for one last go, hoping to boost his draft stock and play a final season for Clemson. A stress fracture in his foot had other plans, but he gutted it out and somehow played in 10 games. He finished the season with 46 catches for 514 yards and three touchdowns.

Once considered a no doubt first-round pick, Ross has seen his stock seriously dip the last two years. But he has earned an invite to the NFL Combine, and in a recent appearance on PFF’s Tailgate: An NFL, Draft & College Football Podcast, he updated the state of the stress fracture.

“It’s been pretty smooth, for real,” Ross said. “It’s a real common injury, so I wasn’t too worried about the rehab process. So, it’s been probably like a month and a half, and I’m cleared now. I’m ready to go.”

The No. 1 goal for Ross when he is in Indianapolis is to show his speed which made him a household name in his first two seasons with the Tigers. His pass-catching ability has not dipped, but he could be a riser on boards if he can prove his body is back to full health.

“Physically, I just want to show my long speed,” he said. “That’s the big thing for me, just to prove that I have that long speed and I’m not just a jump-ball guy.”

Revisiting Clemson AD’s comments on basketball team, thoughts on where program is

Clemson Athletics Director Graham Neff met with the media earlier this month and answered questions about a variety of topics.

One of those was about the basketball program and the future of Tigers coach Brad Brownell. The Tigers  12-14 (4-11) with five games remaining, and making the NIT seems like a long shot at this point.

Clemson Sports senior writer Matt Connolly broke down if changes could be coming for Clemson basketball.

Clemson offensive lineman no longer able to play football

Clemson offensive lineman Hunter Rayburn will no longer be able to play football.

A Clemson spokesperson confirmed Thursday afternoon that Rayburn has been shut down from playing due to neck issues.

Rayburn dealt with stingers throughout last season and Clemson’s medical staff has determined it’s no longer safe for him to play. The redshirt junior from Florida played in nine games last season, with six starts.

DJ Uiagalelei shows off power at Clemson student home run derby

Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was a surprise participant in Wednesday’s student home run derby at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, which was hosted by the Tigers baseball program.

The junior put on a show for the hundreds of students who came out to watch and participate.

According to Tigers baseball coach Monte Lee, Uiagalelei “hit one out of the stadium.”
