Clemson makes final five for 2023 offensive lineman

A top target in the 2023 class has included Clemson in his top five schools. Joshua Miller, a three-star recruit in On3’s rankings, released his list of final schools Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.

The Tigers made the cut, along with Penn State, Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Clemson watching him partake in a camp in early June and extended an offer on Sept. 2. A 6-foot-4, 238-pound interior offensive lineman, he would be a nice addition to an offensive line that needs to focus on building future depth.

“I was excited, I screamed and I started dancing,” Miller told ClemsonSports.com after he received the offer in September. “I was with Tank (one of our OL) and we always turn up together, so it was pure excitement in the room.”

Miller made a visit to Death Valley in early October for the Boston College game. Offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell has served as the primary contact for the junior from Life Christian Academy in Colonial Heights, Virginia.

“As far as Clemson and how they play, I think I’d fit their scheme really well,” Miller told ClemsonSports.com in early October.. “How my school is now, it’s run-heavy and get the pass in there with screen, bubbles, and stuff like that. That’s how Clemson plays a little bit, too. So, I could see myself fitting in with their offense.”

2023 DL Kelby Collins talks Clemson visit, why they made his top eight

Less than two weeks after landing in his top eight, Clemson welcomed Gardendale (Alabama) prospect Kelby Collins on campus on Saturday.

This wasn’t Collins’ first time visiting the school as the Tigers played host to him for an early June visit after the dead period ended.

Collins told ClemsonSports.com senior recruiting reporter Joseph Hastings that Dabo Swinney and company made yet another strong impression on him.

Dabo Swinney says Clemson offensive line down to ‘a few good men’

Dabo Swinney has described Clemson’s offensive line situation as being like “musical chairs” this season.

In the past five games, Clemson has had four different starting lineups along its offensive line. It’s entirely possible that Clemson has a new-look offensive line this week as well after Mason Trotter and Will Putnam were injured this past Saturday against Florida State.

Swinney is describing Trotter, Putnam and running back Phil Mafah as day-to-day right now, but he also said on his call-in show Monday night that Clemson will probably have a new starting offensive line this week.

ClemsonSports.com senior writer Matt Connolly broke down Swinney’s comments and what that means this week at Louisville.
