Trevor Etienne releases top three schools

The Etienne era at Clemson is not over.

The Tigers landed on the shortlist for Trevor Etienne on Monday. The younger brother of former Tigers star Travis, the younger Etienne is the top running back target for Clemson in the class of 2022.

The senior at Jennings (Louisiana) High School has narrowed his list of colleges down to three schools – Clemson, LSU and Florida. He cut Alabama and Georgia out of the mix. A 5-foot-9, 202-pound tailback, Florida and LSU just hired new head coaches in the last 48 hours.

The stability and history at Clemson puts the Tigers in a position to win out on the Etienne sweepstakes. A four-star recruit per the On3 consensus rankings, he is a top-15 player in the state of LSU and top-25 tailback in his class.

“At these three schools I feel like I can maximize my potential,” Etienne told On3 on Monday. “Not only by becoming a better person and player, but in the classroom as well while chasing my dreams of playing in the NFL.”

C.J. Spiller has emerged as the top recruiter for Etienne, and the first-year running backs coach and Dabo Swinney held an at-home visit with him on Monday. Clemson has plenty of offensive talent coming in, but after seeing three running backs enter the portal since last spring, adding depth and talent at the position is huge.

“Clemson feels like home, being that I have a great relationship with everyone there, coaches and players,” Etienne said. “I also know how they develop players because I saw it first hand with my brother.”
