Tyler Brown, Bryant Wesco injury update: Dabo Swinney addresses Clemson WRs status vs. Louisville
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided injury updates on wide receivers Tyler Brown and Bryant Wesco during his media availability on Tuesday.
Swinney revealed that there’s a chance Bryant Wesco will be ready to go for Saturday’s game against Louisville, while Tyler Brown will be out at least another week.
Swinney started off talking about the talented freshman Wesco.
“Just gave him time and is helping him have more time to get ready to play. So I thought he got off to a good start last week, but big day today and tomorrow. Big day,” Dabo Swinney said. “Two really strenuous, physical days getting these guys ready to go play again on Saturday night. So hopefully he’ll have a good week and be ready to go. But he’s definitely made a lot of progress.”
Wesco has reeled in 11 passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns in five games for Clemson so far this season. Wesco ranks second on the team in receiving yards per game.
As for Tyler Brown, the sophomore has yet to get on track this season due to injuries after leading Clemson in receiving last year.
Brown is still working his way back from surgery and is considered “week-to-week,” according to Swinney.
“He won’t be ready this week. He’s still week-to-week. Not ready to make him day-to-day yet, but he’s week-to-week and same thing, he’s made a lot of progress, you know,” Swinney said. “He had the tightrope surgery. And so I’ve seen him with his scooter, and I’ve seen him with crutches and I’ve seen him with a cane and now he’s got none of that. So he’s getting better. He’s getting better.”

Brown has five catches for 30 yards in limited playing time for the Tigers this season.
Clemson enters Saturday’s game against Louisville having won six straight games after falling to Georgia in the opener. All six wins have come by 16 or more points, but Louisville will be the toughest test for Clemson since its opener against the Bulldogs.
After facing the Cardinals, Clemson has back-to-back road games against Virginia Tech and Pitt.
Dabo Swinney: It’d be ‘great’ to redshirt Clemson WR Tyler Brown
Dabo Swinney added that Clemson wide receiver Tyler Brown could end up redshirting in 2024. Brown could miss the rest of the regular season, play in the ACC Championship Game and postseason and maintain his redshirt. He has played in four games thus far.
“I mean that’s a possibility, for sure,” Swinney said. “I mean with where he is and the amount of games that he’s played (4). You know, we’ve got five games left. So, I mean, if he misses a couple more then that’s a decision. Those are real time things, you know.
“You’ve got to try to win the game you’re playing. And, you know, you don’t ever know what your situation’s going to look like in two weeks. Certainly something we can look at. And that’d be great if we could. But it’s kind of a real-time decision based on your personnel.”
