Versatile CB Shelton Lewis officially signs with Clemson
Stockbridge (Ga.) cornerback Shelton Lewis has signed with Clemson. He has begun taking part in Clemson’s bowl practices ahead of the Orange Bowl. Lewis committed to Clemson back on Aug. 8.
Lewis will play cornerback at the next level. He’s played all over the offense and defense in high school. The Tigers won over Lewis with their culture, among other things. He’s played 7-on-7 with four-star cornerbacks Avieon Terrell and Branden Strozier.
There was a comfort with Clemson.
“It was a good vibe,” Lewis said. “I’ve played with most of the players on 7-on-7 teams. Knowing how they play and what they bring out of me when I play. I just know that I’m going to be at my full potential. Even the guys are not from my area. Peter Woods, Robert Billings, I know what they bring to the table. They’re going to help us all around as a team.”
What are Shelton Lewis’ strengths?
He isn’t as physically big as Storizer and Terrell, but Lewis has big-time track speed. He is the class 4A state champion in the 400-meter dash. That speed is evident on the football field.

Lewis’ speed allowed the Stockbridge coaching staff to utilize him on the offensive side of the ball. He lined up as a quarterback and wide receiver on offense. Lewis primarily played cornerback on defense.
Lewis is a playmaker when he’s on the field. Lewis is listed at 5-foot-11 but he’s a jump ball threat on both sides of the football. He does a good job adjusting to the ball in the air.
Once it’s in his hands, he finds open grass. Lewis says Clemson has their eyes on him on the defensive side of the football.
