Austin (Texas) Westlake four-star quarterback and Clemson commit Cade Klubnik made one of the best plays of his extraordinary high school career this past Friday night against Bowie (Texas) High.

Facing a third-and-16 from deep in his own territory, Klubnik was flushed from the pocket and had to roll to his left. After running into some free space, he set his feet and fire a looping rainbow high into the dark Texas air.

The ball fell right into the outstretched hands of Hunter Luke. Luke caught the around the 40, kept his balance and sprinted away from his defender for an incredible touchdown.

Cade Klubnik later left this game with a shoulder injury

Austin (Texas) Westlake — the No. 3 ranked team in the country by USA Today — won the game 35-0 but lost Cade Klubnik in the second quarter due to an injury.

He was taken out of the stadium on a golf cart after suffering what his father told Joseph Hastings of Clemson Sports is a sprained non-throwing shoulder.

Klubnik later texted Grace Raynor of The Athletic that he should be back in a few weeks and that the injury is nothing to worry about.

He also tweeted after the injury to thank people for reaching out.

Cade Klubnik is 95 of 134 for 1476 yards with 20 touchdowns on the season.

Klubnik is the “glue” of Clemson’s recruiting class

Hastings called Cade Klubnik the glue of the Clemson recruiting class and their most important commitment last week.

“A lot of people were already hoping that Cade would have reclassified to the 2021 class and gone in August,” Hastings said. “He’s kind of the one keeping it together. He’s going to be really important in terms of landing Andre Green and Trevor Etienne, two guys that he’s talked to before on the camp circuit.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power saw Cade Klubnik at the Elite 11 camp this summer and came away impressed with his ability to throw on the run.

“Klubnik is a strong athlete and was at his best when throwing on the run during Day 1 of the Elite 11 Finals,” Power wrote. “He had a number of nice throws while rolling out to his right and throws a catchable ball. Klubnik also has a vibrant personality and energy level that was evident throughout the course of the week. While his pure arm talent is not among the top group of the Elite 11 finalists, Klubnik was accurate and steady on a day-to-day basis.”
