Where do Clemson's top targets rank in new On300 rankings?

Clemson only holds three commits in the class of 2023 at the moment. Things can change rapidly in the world of recruiting.

Relatively, the Tigers are well represented throughout the new On300 rankings early on. We examine where some of Clemson’s top targets sit in the new top 300. We examine the top 10 targets in the top 300.

Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek, safety, Caleb Downs: No. 12 overall prospect

Caleb Downs has had Clemson involved in his recruitment for quite some time. He was on campus earlier this month alongside teammate Jamal Anderson. Downs is again a five-star in the latest On300 rankings.

Downs currently has Georgia and Alabama leading according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian Academy quarterback Christopher Vizzina: No. 19 overall prospect

Christopher Vizzina is Clemson’s highest-ranked commit in the latest batch of rankings. Vizzina committed to Clemson last week. The Tigers checked all of Vizzina’s boxes during his recruitment.

Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson defensive lineman Peter Woods: No. 19 overall prospect

Peter Woods is the first name that shows up with Clemson in real contention at the moment. Woods has the Tigers in his top four released earlier this month.

However, the momentum with Woods seems to be leaning all the way of the in-state Alabama Crimson Tide. RPM has Alabama favored with a 97.1% chance of landing Woods.

Woods was in Tuscaloosa for A Day on Saturday.

Mount Pleasant (S.C.) Oceanside Collegiate Academy offensive tackle Monroe Freeling: No. 38 overall prospect

Monroe Freeling is South Carolina’s top-ranked prospect in the On3 Consensus and the On300. Clemson has made Freeling a key target in the 2023 cycle.

Freeling has been on campus multiple times over the last few years and plans to take another trip this summer. Clemson leads Notre Dame in the RPM with a 53.4% chance of landing the four-star offensive tackle.

Thomaston (Ga.) Upson-Lee DL T.J. Searcy: No. 49 overall prospect

T.J. Searcy has Clemson as the top school in his RPM ratings. The Tigers will get Searcy’s first official visit in June. He is also planning official visits to Florida and South Carolina.

“I am going back to Clemson for my first official visit on June 3,” Searcy told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons last week. “My first visit to Clemson was really good, so I am excited about getting back.”

He is high on Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney as well.

“Coach Swinney cares about his players and I love his vision for the program. He is a great head coach that has great coaches. How coach Swinney is with his players stands out a lot to me.”

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco Defensive lineman Matayo Uiagalelei: No. 53 overall prospect

Matayo Uiagalelei has obvious family ties to Clemson. His older brother D.J. Uiagalelei is the Tigers’ incumbent starting quarterback.

Uiagalelei was in attendance last weekend for the Tigers’ spring game. The southern California roots are there as well for Uiagalelei.

The west coast programs seem to have an advantage early on. USC holds a lead over Oregon in the RPM with a 56.7% chance of landing the four-star defensive lineman. Clemson lurks in third.

Warner Robins (Ga.) DL Vic Burley: No. 61 overall prospect

Vic Burley recently released a top 12 and then did some adjusting to it. Clemson has remained a constant. They lead in his RPM ratings with an 82% chance of landing him over Georgia.

Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity RB Justice Haynes: No. 78 overall prospect

Georgia leads in Justice Haynes’ RPM with a 93% chance of landing the four-star ball carrier. Haynes is a Georgia legacy. Clemson has not gone away.

Haynes hopes to get back to Clemson again sometime soon but doesn’t have a date. He is still being recruited very heavily by the Clemson coaching staff.

Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek LB Jamal Anderson: No. 101 overall prospect

Anderson has been one of the fast-risers of the 2023 cycle. He is now at 101 overall in the On300. Clemson has been in contact well before his rise through the rankings.

Anderson has already set an official visit to Clemson. He will be back at Clemson on June 3-5. Clemson leads Anderson’s RPM with a 47.1% chance to land the four-star linebacker.

Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville DL Hunter Osborne: No. 106 overall prospect

Hunter Osborne recently included Clemson in his first cutdown. The Tigers are already positioned well with the four-star defensive lineman.

He will take an official visit to Clemson on June 3-5.
