Of the elite prospects that are in Boulder this weekend to visit Colorado, perhaps none are bigger than Belleville (Mich.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Bryce Underwood. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

As the Buffaloes look to seize their momentum and make hay with some of the best recruits in the nation, head coach Deion Sanders continues to let the attention surrounding Boulder and the CU campus do the talking.

With kickoff against Colorado State a few hours away, Sanders took some time to see Underwood, as the gunslinger shared a photo of the two on social media.

Underwood is fresh off an impressive performance on Friday night, where he threw for over 250 yards and totaled five touchdowns while not throwing an incompletion. Belleville remains undefeated as its QB remains one of the most coveted prospects in the nation.

Visit will be crucial for Colorado and Underwood

His visit comes at a pivotal point in his recruitment as the Buffaloes make their push. Michigan has been recruiting him longer than any other contender, but will have to fight off a lot of momentum behind Sanders’ program.

LSU and quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan have also made him a top priority and hosted him for a multi-day unofficial visit in July, one that made a strong impression on the elite signal-caller

Michigan has hosted Underwood in Ann Arbor at least six times this year, and he was in Ann Arbor for back-to-back visits at the end of July. The Wolverines tried to get him on campus this weekend, but he’ll travel to Boulder first and will likely be back in Ann Arbor again this fall.

Sanders and Co. offered him back in January, but the on-field product — especially the play of Shedeur Sanders — looks to have ratcheted things up a notch.

“The 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback has been keeping a close eye on Coach Prime and the Buffaloes. After that win against TCU, he set that visit for Sept. 30. But now, he’ll be in even earlier than that,” On3’s Josh Newberg said. “(Underwood) is now a real target to come to Colorado. They’re getting him on campus at a great time, because this is a pivotal point in his recruitment … Deion and Colorado have emerged as a real threat.”

Underwood’s commitment date set for January

Underwood’s tentative commitment date is set for January 6. With four more months to go, there’s still a lot that can happen with On3’s No. 1 ranked player in the country.

“He’s getting a lot of phone calls, a lot of text messages over the phone and in the DMs, along with everything else going on because he’s such a highly touted athlete,” his quarterback trainer, Donovan Dooley, told The Wolverine. “The biggest thing for him is, again, keeping the main thing, the main thing, while trusting his support staff, family, mom, dad and the coaches, while just weighing out the pros and cons. For Bryce, it’s coming down the wire of where he wants to go, so we’ll see where he ends up going.”
